Chapter 19

1 And Ahab256 told5046 Jezebel348 853 all3605 that834 Elijah452 had done,6213 and withal3605 how834 he had slain2026 853 all3605 the prophets5030 with the sword.2719

2 Then Jezebel348 sent7971 a messenger4397 unto413 Elijah,452 saying,559 So3541 let the gods430 do6213 to me, and more3254 also,3541 if3588 I make7760 not853 thy life5315 as the life5315 of one259 of4480 them by tomorrow4279 about this time.6256

3 And when he saw7200 that, he arose,6965 and went1980 for413 his life,5315 and came935 to Beer-sheba,884 which834 belongeth to Judah,3063 and left5117 853 his servant5288 there.8033

4 But he himself1931 went1980 a day's3117 journey1870 into the wilderness,4057 and came935 and sat down3427 under8478 a259 juniper tree:7574 and he requested7592 853 for himself5315 that he might die;4191 and said,559 It is enough;7227 now,6258 O LORD,3068 take away3947 my life;5315 for3588 I595 am not3808 better2896 than my fathers.4480 1

5 And as he lay7901 and slept3462 under8478 a259 juniper tree,7574 behold,2009 then2088 an angel4397 touched5060 him, and said559 unto him, Arise6965 and eat.398

6 And he looked,5027 and, behold,2009 there was a cake5692 baked on the coals,7529 and a cruse6835 of water4325 at his head.4763 And he did eat398 and drink,8354 and laid him down7901 again.7725

7 And the angel4397 of the LORD3068 came again7725 the second time,8145 and touched5060 him, and said,559 Arise6965 and eat;398 because3588 the journey1870 is too great7227 for4480 thee.

8 And he arose,6965 and did eat398 and drink,8354 and went1980 in the strength3581 of that1931 meat396 forty705 days3117 and forty705 nights3915 unto5704 Horeb2722 the mount2022 of God.430

9 And he came935 thither8033 unto413 a cave,4631 and lodged3885 there;8033 and, behold,2009 the word1697 of the LORD3068 came to413 him, and he said559 unto him, What4100 doest thou here,6311 Elijah?452

10 And he said,559 I have been very jealous7065 7065 for the LORD3068 God430 of hosts:6635 for3588 the children1121 of Israel3478 have forsaken5800 thy covenant,1285 thrown down2040 853 thine altars,4196 and slain2026 thy prophets5030 with the sword;2719 and I,589 even I only,905 am left;3498 and they seek1245 853 my life,5315 to take it away.3947

11 And he said,559 Go forth,3318 and stand5975 upon the mount2022 before6440 the LORD.3068 And, behold,2009 the LORD3068 passed by,5674 and a great1419 and strong2389 wind7307 rent6561 the mountains,2022 and broke in pieces7665 the rocks5553 before6440 the LORD;3068 but the LORD3068 was not3808 in the wind:7307 and after310 the wind7307 an earthquake;7494 but the LORD3068 was not3808 in the earthquake: 7494

12 And after310 the earthquake7494 a fire;784 but the LORD3068 was not3808 in the fire:784 and after310 the fire784 a still1827 small1851 voice.6963

13 And it was1961 so, when Elijah452 heard8085 it, that he wrapped3874 his face6440 in his mantle,155 and went out,3318 and stood5975 in the entering in6607 of the cave.4631 And, behold,2009 there came a voice6963 unto413 him, and said,559 What4100 doest thou here,6311 Elijah?452

14 And he said,559 I have been very jealous7065 7065 for the LORD3068 God430 of hosts:6635 because3588 the children1121 of Israel3478 have forsaken5800 thy covenant,1285 thrown down2040 853 thine altars,4196 and slain2026 thy prophets5030 with the sword;2719 and I,589 even I only,905 am left;3498 and they seek1245 853 my life,5315 to take it away.3947

15 And the LORD3068 said559 unto413 him, Go,1980 return7725 on thy way1870 to the wilderness4057 of Damascus:1834 and when thou comest,935 anoint4886 853 Hazael2371 to be king4428 over5921 Syria: 758

16 And Jehu3058 the son1121 of Nimshi5250 shalt thou anoint4886 to be king4428 over5921 Israel:3478 and Elisha477 the son1121 of Shaphat8202 of Abel-meholah4480 65 shalt thou anoint4886 to be prophet5030 in thy room.8478

17 And it shall come to pass,1961 that him that escapeth4422 the sword4480 2719 of Hazael2371 shall Jehu3058 slay:4191 and him that escapeth4422 from the sword4480 2719 of Jehu3058 shall Elisha477 slay.4191

18 Yet I have left7604 me seven7651 thousand505 in Israel,3478 all3605 the knees1290 which834 have not3808 bowed3766 unto Baal,1168 and every3605 mouth6310 which834 hath not3808 kissed5401 him.

19 So he departed1980 thence,4480 8033 and found4672 853 Elisha477 the son1121 of Shaphat,8202 who1931 was plowing2790 with twelve8147 6240 yoke6776 of oxen before6440 him, and he1931 with the twelfth:8147 6240 and Elijah452 passed5674 by413 him, and cast7993 his mantle155 upon413 him.

20 And he left5800 853 the oxen,1241 and ran7323 after310 Elijah,452 and said,559 Let me, I pray thee,4994 kiss5401 my father1 and my mother,517 and then I will follow1980 310 thee. And he said559 unto him, Go1980 back again:7725 for3588 what4100 have I done6213 to thee?

21 And he returned back7725 from4480 310 him, and took3947 853 a yoke6776 of oxen,1241 and slew2076 them, and boiled1310 their flesh1320 with the instruments3627 of the oxen,1241 and gave5414 unto the people,5971 and they did eat.398 Then he arose,6965 and went1980 after310 Elijah,452 and ministered8334 unto him.

1 Ахав пересказал Иезавели все, что сделал Илия, и то, что он убил мечем всех пророков.

2 Иезавель послала к Илии посланца сказать: то и то пусть сделают мне боги, и то и то прибавят, если я завтра же не сделаю с твоею душею того, что сделал ты с душею каждого из них.

3 Видя сие, он встал и пошел, чтобы спасти жизнь свою, и пришел в Вирсавию, которая в Иудее. Здесь он оставил отрока своего.

4 А сам отошел в пустыню на день пути, и пришедши, сел под одним кустом дрока, и просил смерти душе своей, и сказал: довольно уже мне, Господи, возьми душу мою, потому что я не лучше отцев моих.

5 И лег и уснул, под одним кустом дрока. Тут ангел коснулся его и сказал: встань, поешь.

6 Он взглянул, и вот, у изголовья его подовая лепешка и кувшин воды. Он поел, и напился, и опять лег спать.

7 Ангел Господа второй раз коснулся его и сказал: встань, поешь, потому что дальняя дорога предлежит тебе.

8 Он встал, поел и напился; и, подкрепившись сею пищею, шел сорок дней и сорок ночей до горы Божией Хорива.

9 Там он вошел в пещеру и ночевал в ней. И тогда было к нему слово Господне, и сказал ему Господь: зачем ты здесь, Илия?

10 Он сказал: я сильно возревновал о Господе, Боге Саваофе; поелику сыны Израилевы оставили завет Твой, разрушили жертвенники Твои, и пророков Твоих убили мечем. Один я остался, но и моей души ищут, чтоб отнять ее.

11 И сказал Господь: поди, стань на горе пред лицем Господа. И се Господь проходит: пред Господом большой и сильный ветер, раздирающий горы и сокрушающий скалы. Но не в ветре Господь. После ветра сделалось землетрясение, но не в землетрясении Господь.

12 После землетрясения огонь, но не в огне Господь. После огня чувствуемо было тихое дуновение.

13 Слыша сие, Илия закрыл лице свое власяницею своею, и пошел, и стал у входа в пещеру. Там был к нему глас, и было сказано: зачем ты здесь, Илия?

14 Он сказал: я сильно возревновал о Господе, Боге Саваофе, поелику сыны Израилевы оставили завет Твой, разрушили жертвенники Твои, и пророков Твоих убили мечем. Один я остался, но и моей души ищут, чтоб отнять ее.

15 И сказал ему Господь: пойди обратно своею дорогой чрез пустыню в Дамаск, и когда придешь туда, помажь Азаила в цари над Сириею.

16 А Иуя, сына Ниемиева, помажь в цари над Израилем; Елисея же, сына Шафатова, из Авел-Мехолы, помажь в пророка вместо себя.

17 Кто спасется от меча Азаилова, того умертвит Иуй, а кто спасется от меча Иуева, того умертвит Елисей.

18 Впрочем Я сберег у Израиля тысяч семь, всех сих колена не преклонялись пред Ваалом, и всех сих уста не лобызали его.

19 Он пошел оттуда и нашел Елисея, сына Шафатова, когда он орал. У него было двенадцать пар волов, и сам он при двенадцатой паре. Илия, проходя мимо его, бросил к нему власяницу свою.

20 Елисей, оставив волов, побежал за Илиею, и сказал: позволь мне поцеловать отца моего и матерь мою, и потом я пойду за тобою. Он сказал ему: поди, воротись; ибо помысли, что я сделал тебе.

21 Он, отошедши от него, взял пару волов и заколол их, и на снаряде орущих волов сварил мясо их, и раздал людям, чтоб они съели. А сам встал, и пошел за Илиею, и стал служить ему.

1 Ахав пересказал Иезавели все, что сделал Илия, и то, что он убил мечем всех пророков.

2 Then Jezebel348 sent7971 a messenger4397 unto413 Elijah,452 saying,559 So3541 let the gods430 do6213 to me, and more3254 also,3541 if3588 I make7760 not853 thy life5315 as the life5315 of one259 of4480 them by tomorrow4279 about this time.6256

2 Иезавель послала к Илии посланца сказать: то и то пусть сделают мне боги, и то и то прибавят, если я завтра же не сделаю с твоею душею того, что сделал ты с душею каждого из них.

3 And when he saw7200 that, he arose,6965 and went1980 for413 his life,5315 and came935 to Beer-sheba,884 which834 belongeth to Judah,3063 and left5117 853 his servant5288 there.8033

3 Видя сие, он встал и пошел, чтобы спасти жизнь свою, и пришел в Вирсавию, которая в Иудее. Здесь он оставил отрока своего.

4 А сам отошел в пустыню на день пути, и пришедши, сел под одним кустом дрока, и просил смерти душе своей, и сказал: довольно уже мне, Господи, возьми душу мою, потому что я не лучше отцев моих.

5 И лег и уснул, под одним кустом дрока. Тут ангел коснулся его и сказал: встань, поешь.

9 Там он вошел в пещеру и ночевал в ней. И тогда было к нему слово Господне, и сказал ему Господь: зачем ты здесь, Илия?

10 Он сказал: я сильно возревновал о Господе, Боге Саваофе; поелику сыны Израилевы оставили завет Твой, разрушили жертвенники Твои, и пророков Твоих убили мечем. Один я остался, но и моей души ищут, чтоб отнять ее.

11 And he said,559 Go forth,3318 and stand5975 upon the mount2022 before6440 the LORD.3068 And, behold,2009 the LORD3068 passed by,5674 and a great1419 and strong2389 wind7307 rent6561 the mountains,2022 and broke in pieces7665 the rocks5553 before6440 the LORD;3068 but the LORD3068 was not3808 in the wind:7307 and after310 the wind7307 an earthquake;7494 but the LORD3068 was not3808 in the earthquake: 7494

11 И сказал Господь: поди, стань на горе пред лицем Господа. И се Господь проходит: пред Господом большой и сильный ветер, раздирающий горы и сокрушающий скалы. Но не в ветре Господь. После ветра сделалось землетрясение, но не в землетрясении Господь.

12 And after310 the earthquake7494 a fire;784 but the LORD3068 was not3808 in the fire:784 and after310 the fire784 a still1827 small1851 voice.6963

12 После землетрясения огонь, но не в огне Господь. После огня чувствуемо было тихое дуновение.

16 А Иуя, сына Ниемиева, помажь в цари над Израилем; Елисея же, сына Шафатова, из Авел-Мехолы, помажь в пророка вместо себя.

17 And it shall come to pass,1961 that him that escapeth4422 the sword4480 2719 of Hazael2371 shall Jehu3058 slay:4191 and him that escapeth4422 from the sword4480 2719 of Jehu3058 shall Elisha477 slay.4191

17 Кто спасется от меча Азаилова, того умертвит Иуй, а кто спасется от меча Иуева, того умертвит Елисей.

18 Впрочем Я сберег у Израиля тысяч семь, всех сих колена не преклонялись пред Ваалом, и всех сих уста не лобызали его.

19 Он пошел оттуда и нашел Елисея, сына Шафатова, когда он орал. У него было двенадцать пар волов, и сам он при двенадцатой паре. Илия, проходя мимо его, бросил к нему власяницу свою.

20 And he left5800 853 the oxen,1241 and ran7323 after310 Elijah,452 and said,559 Let me, I pray thee,4994 kiss5401 my father1 and my mother,517 and then I will follow1980 310 thee. And he said559 unto him, Go1980 back again:7725 for3588 what4100 have I done6213 to thee?

20 Елисей, оставив волов, побежал за Илиею, и сказал: позволь мне поцеловать отца моего и матерь мою, и потом я пойду за тобою. Он сказал ему: поди, воротись; ибо помысли, что я сделал тебе.

21 And he returned back7725 from4480 310 him, and took3947 853 a yoke6776 of oxen,1241 and slew2076 them, and boiled1310 their flesh1320 with the instruments3627 of the oxen,1241 and gave5414 unto the people,5971 and they did eat.398 Then he arose,6965 and went1980 after310 Elijah,452 and ministered8334 unto him.

21 Он, отошедши от него, взял пару волов и заколол их, и на снаряде орущих волов сварил мясо их, и раздал людям, чтоб они съели. А сам встал, и пошел за Илиею, и стал служить ему.
